FAQ
FAQ and Commonly Asked Questions <3
i. How long have you been drawing?
Since about the age of 6. I remember that my grandmother bought me a ‘How to draw Winnie-the-Pooh’ book, and I was hooked. My first grade teacher also pulled me aside one day after classes and mentioned how she liked one of my drawings so much she wanted to keep it. Been drawing ever since.
ii. How did you learn to draw?
Up until high school, I was all self taught. I’d pause anime and try to redraw the scene, etc. Then high school hit and I had a few art classes, but once I hit college I learned the key lessons like shading, perspective - all the fun stuff. Figure drawing helped me like no other.
Since college, I’ve always had 2 separate art styles; realism and anime-ish. Since I’ve graduated, I’ve sort of blended the two together. Pretty much everything was a big trial and error, and pushing myself to get better. I look at my older stuff now and cringe, haha. My styles didn’t always blend nicely.
As far as digital art goes, I’m pretty much all self taught, especially in openCanvas and Photoshop. And there’s always room for improvement <3
iii. What did you major in college?
I graduated with an Associates in Fine arts in 2008, and a Bachelors in Fine Arts with a concentration in Drawing in 2011. :)
Though I did take a bunch of other classes, like photography, ceramics, illustration (LOVED), painting, and a few graphic design courses.
iv. What programs do you use?
I mostly use a program called openCanvas, which is made by PortalGraphics.net. It’s a wonderful drawing program, and I’ve yet to find anything like it. oC has so many great features too, like event recording and online network drawing with other people. And it blends color like no other, where in Photoshop you have to build up color. I use version 4.5+, but there is a free version that I use occasionally called 1.1 (which if you Google you should be able to find fairly easily if you want to try it out). It is a PC only program, however.
I do also use Photoshop 7 and CS2 from time to time, for things like effects and text. I also dabble in Macromedia Flash from time to time.
v. How old are you?
24. OLD.
vi. Do you do art trades or requests?
Not usually, though if you have a cool suggestion or idea there’s a chance it could get drawn :)
